What are the benefits of professional pedicures?

Professional pedicures are much more than simply adding a couple of coats of polish to improve the appearance of your nails.

There are also many physiological benefits to treating your hard-working feet to regular pedicures. Our feet tend to be the most neglected part, only being pampered during those few months (if we're lucky) of the year when sandals and flip-flops are the footwear of choice.

Every pedicure will begin with an assessment of your nails.

This can be beneficial as nail technicians are trained to recognize signs of diseases and disorders, which may need further attention. It will also identify any damaged nails, sore or broken skin, and recommend a routine, for care at home, to complement your spa treatments. This is often something simple, like ensuring a professional lotion/cream and cuticle oil are used daily. It's amazing the difference something that simple can make to the appearance and health of the nails!

Your toenails will always be cleaned, buffed, trimmed, and shaped (depending on your choice of a pedicure) as part of your pedicure.

Attention will be paid to the cuticles, as they can become tough and unsightly if left uncared for. They will be tidied and treated with cuticle oil to keep them hydrated. Tidy cuticles give a clean canvas to apply polish. And healthy cuticles will also help to prevent infection.

Exfoliation is an important part of pedicures.

As it aids the natural shedding of dead skin cells and stimulates the blood flow. This will improve the texture of the skin, keeping it smooth and aiding the absorption of lotion.

Many clients find the relaxing foot massage to be their favorite part of the pedicure.
This is important as it will moisturize the skin, boost circulation, relieve aches and tension, and keep skin supple, prolonging its youthful appearance.
